Super class comp crawler build guide.

The unlimited class — every part, verified price, no guesswork.

Super class is where RC crawling stops compromising: motor-on-axle drivetrains, four-wheel steering, 16–18" wheelbase, 2.2" wheels, and no restrictions worth mentioning. It's also the most expensive rig you'll ever build. This guide lays out the complete core parts list with hand-verified prices — every item below is a live deal on RC Crawlers Seek, checked by total landed cost. Prices verified Oct 11, 2026.

What “Super class” means

Under WRCCA rules, Super is the unlimited division. The defining features: motor-on-axle (MOA) — a motor mounted directly on each axle, no transmission or driveshafts; four-wheel steering — a steering servo on both axles; 16–18" wheelbase; and 2.2" wheels and tires. MOA eliminates torque twist and lets each axle be driven independently. 4WS gives you a turning radius that makes 1/10 trail trucks look broken. The price of admission is real: plan $1,800–$2,200+ before radio, battery, and body panels.

The core parts list

These five parts are the heart of the build — all live deals, verified Oct 11, 2026.

Dlux Fab DluXR10 Front & Rear Axle Set — $854.99

The single most important purchase. Complete MOA axle set in 7075 aluminum with heat-treated alloy steel shafts and 14.72:1 gears. Everything else bolts to these. DluXR10 at Dlux Fab · See axle deals

Dlux Fab Shocks — Mediums $77.99 + Shorts $48.00

Super builds run a split: 105mm mediums (set of 4) and 92mm shorts (pair), mediums and shorts mixed front-to-rear for stance tuning. Both sets: $125.99 combined. Dlux shocks at Dlux Fab · See shock deals

Holmes Hobbies Revolver V2 Snubnose 1000KV Motors ×2 — $129.80

One brushless outrunner per axle at $64.90 each. The Revolver V2 Snubnose is Holmes' short-can comp outrunner — 1000KV, built for smooth low-speed torque on 4S, a natural fit for MOA axles. You need two. See motor deals

NSDRC RS800 v2 Servos ×2 — ~$249.98

600oz @ 8.4V / 900oz @ 12.6V / 1100oz+ @ 16.8V, brushless, 25T spline — one per axle for four-wheel steer. $124.99 each; a Super needs two. See servo deals

Core total: $1,360.76 (axles $854.99 + shocks $125.99 + motors $129.80 + servos $249.98).

The rest of the build

Chassis — ~$100–150

Small-batch comp chassis from builders like Hittman Fab: narrow carbon or delrin plate designs built around MOA axles and 16–18" wheelbases. Sold in small runs direct or through retailers like The Crawl Father — batches sell out, so watch for drops.

Dual ESCs — ~$140–200

Two silent brushless ESCs, one per motor. The proven picks are the Dlux Suppressor and the Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster Mini (~$70 each). Run both off one battery with a Y-harness.

Wheels & tires — $150–250

2.2" comp wheels plus soft-compound tires. The modern comp standards are JConcepts Ruptures and Pro-Line Hyrax in soft compounds — both are cataloged on our 2.2 tires & wheels page with verified prices.

Add a radio, battery, and body panels on top, and the realistic all-in lands at $1,800–$2,200+. Every part above is price-tracked on RC Crawlers Seek — when a better verified price appears, the listings update.

Lowest Cost Build Sheet

There is a cheaper road into Super, and it is the one the class was built on: Tamiya Clod Buster motor-on-axle axles. Read this first — it is an alternate build path, not a drop-in swap. Clod axles have different width and link geometry than the DluXR10s above, so this sheet only works with a chassis built (or built-to-order) around Clod geometry. Mixing this axle set with the chassis in the main sheet will not bolt together.

Clod Buster axle package — $454.21

Tamiya no longer sells the axles on their own, so the verified new route is a complete Super Clod Buster kit at $311.50 (AMain; the same money at several eBay sellers) — both complete axles, and the leftover body, wheels, motors, and ESC are yours to sell or shelf. Used complete pairs surface on eBay regularly for less, but price and condition swing too much to print a fixed figure; inspect the gear cases and axle tubes before you bid. Then the durability upgrades a Super actually needs: a 24-piece rubber-seal bearing set ($20.99 — the kit turns on bushings), Robinson Racing hardened steel 13T pinions, two at $5.99 ($11.98 — the stock pinions are soft), spool gear sets to lock both diffs ($15.99 × 2 = $31.98), and Hot Racing aluminum axle tube kits ($38.88 × 2 = $77.76 — the plastic tubes are the known break point under Super torque). Bearings & spool sets at Integy · Steel pinions at CPE · Axle tubes — current eBay listings

Servos ×2 — $78.52 (the calculated gamble)

Generic 70KG brushless servos from our catalog at $39.26 each replace the $124.99 RS800 v2s. On spec-sheet math, 70kg-cm rivals the RS800 at 8.4V — but generic torque ratings run optimistic and these are unproven on a nationals course. That is the honest trade: if one fades mid-season you are out $39, not $125. View the deal at AliExpress

Wheels & tires — $52.33

2.2" carbon fiber beadlocks, set of four ($30.69) plus Ruptures-style 2.2" tires, set of four ($21.64), replace the $150–250 line in the main sheet. The knock-off tires are taller and cruder than the real Ruptures — and for a budget Super, tread you can afford to cut and glue (see our super tire guide) beats tread you cannot. Kept, and one declared one-of-one

The Dlux shocks ($125.99) carry over unchanged, and the Holmes Revolver V2 Snubnose motors ($129.80) carry over from the main sheet — MOA motors are not where this sheet saves its money; the savings are in the axles and servos. The chassis is declared one-of-one and deliberately not priced into the total below: no Clod-geometry Super chassis is in current production at a price we could verify, so expect small-batch or custom money and confirm link geometry with the builder before you order anything.

Lowest cost core total: $788.52 (Clod axle package $454.21 + shocks $125.99 + motors $129.80 + servos $78.52), against $1,360.76 for the core in the main sheet — plus the $52.33 wheels and tires, the chassis, dual ESCs, radio, and battery as covered above.

Super class build FAQ

What is Super class in RC comp crawling?

Super class (WRCCA) is the unlimited division: motor-on-axle drivetrains, four-wheel steering, 16 to 18 inch wheelbase, and 2.2 inch wheels. With no motor or chassis restrictions, Supers are the most capable — and most expensive — competition crawlers you can build.

How much does it cost to build a Super class comp crawler?

Expect $1,800 to $2,200+ before radio, battery, and body panels. The core drivetrain and electronics — axles, shocks, motors, and servos — run $1,360.76. The axles alone are $854.99, which is normal: a Super's MOA axle set is the single most important (and priciest) part of the build.

Why motor-on-axle instead of a transmission?

In Super class there are no drivetrain restrictions, so builders mount a motor directly on each axle (MOA). That eliminates the transmission, central driveshafts, and torque twist entirely — and lets you run front and rear motors independently. The tradeoff is cost: two motors and two ESCs instead of one.

What ESC works with dual brushless outrunners?

You need two small silent brushless ESCs — one per motor. The Dlux Suppressor and Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster Mini are the proven options at roughly $70 each. Wire each ESC to its own motor and run them off a single battery with a Y-harness or dual outputs.
